Stanley Williams Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we, the members of the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad, come together to announce the passing of our beloved Life Member, Stanley Williams Jr. Stanley’s battle with cancer came to an end on Sunday, November 5th, as he peacefully departed this world, surrounded by the love and support of his dear wife, Joanie.
Stanley’s journey in the first responder community was nothing short of remarkable, spanning several decades and leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. He began his extraordinary journey at a young age, at just 16, when he became a member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. Over the years, his passion for service led him to the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, where he continued to serve for several more years, and eventually, he found his true calling with the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Throughout his time with the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad, Stanley Williams Jr. occupied numerous important roles, showcasing his dedication and leadership within the organization. He served as Chief from 1997 to 2002, taking on the immense responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of his community during times of crisis. His tenure as President, from 2009-2010 and again from 2014-2016, demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the betterment of the organization and the enhancement of the services provided to the community.
At the time of his passing, Stanley was serving as a Member at Large, a role that reflects his enduring commitment to the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad and its mission. His impact was not merely in titles but in the countless lives he touched and the positive changes he brought to the organization and the community it serves.
Stanley’s contributions extended beyond his volunteer work with the rescue squad. He had a long and distinguished career with the St. Mary’s County Government, where he began as a 911 dispatcher. His calm and steady presence during emergencies provided comfort and assurance to those in distress. As he continued to grow in his role, Stanley eventually retired as an Emergency Management Agent. His work in this capacity was instrumental in preparing the community for various crises, ensuring the safety and well-being of countless residents.
Stanley Williams Jr.’s legacy is not confined to the titles he held or the years he dedicated to service but in the countless lives he touched, the families he comforted, and the community he made safer. His commitment to the first responder community and the people of St. Mary’s County will forever be remembered and cherished.
